Organizational Structure
Students will examine the organizational structure of jobs and compare and contrast that to the organizational structure they encounter in school.

Procedures/Activities


Step:  1 Duration: 10 min.
Discuss adjustments required for life in an organization. Explain how every company, business, or institution has an organizational structure in which: a. Workers must adjust to authority; b. Workers encounter many impersonal rules and relationships; c. Most workers experience a significant degree of routine on the job.

Step:  2 Duration: 15 min.
Divide students into small groups. Using a Venn diagram, have students compare how the organizational structure on the job is similar to and different from the organizational structure they are accustomed to in school.

Step:  3 Duration: 15 min.
Allow student groups to present their diagrams and discuss their results.

Writing materials, paper; chalkboard, chalk; white board, markers.
