Procedures/Activities

Step:  1 Duration: 10 minutes
Discuss with students the importance of a resume (i.e., it's the first impression employers have of you when you apply for a job). Have students suggest the items of information that should be included on a resume and discuss their responses.

Step:  2 Duration: 20 minutes
Tell students they will be taking a web-based tutorial in creating a resume and direct them to the My Future Career Toolbox: Creating your own Resume web page. Point out the different sections of a resume listed on the extreme right of the web page and direct students to click on each section in turn to review all items and the examples before attempting to complete their own resumes. Be alert for student questions and comments.
