Students explore their abilities in this Smart Choices activity in which they define performance and learning style as well as creativity.

Topic: Understanding the interrelationship of life roles.
Standard: -Demonstrate knowledge of life stages. -Describe factors that determine lifestyles (e.g., socioeconomic status, culture, values, occupational choices, work habits). -Describe ways in which occupational choices may affect lifestyle. -Describe the contribution of work to a balanced and productive life. -Describe ways in which work, family, and leisure are interrelated. -Describe different career patterns and their potential effect on family patterns and lifestyle. -Describe the importance of leisure activities. -Demonstrate ways that occupational skills and knowledge can be acquired through leisure.


Procedures/Activities


Step:  1 Duration: 
Have students fill out the “All About You” activity sheet.

Description: A list of choices in areas such as science & math aptitude, creativity, artistic, musical or drama talent.

Step:  2 Duration: 
After the inventory is completed, divide into small groups and discuss abilities discovered.

Step:  3 Duration: 
After the discussion is finished, place the inventories in student portfolio for reevaluation at a later date.

Students will be assessed as they complete the “All About You" activity sheet and discuss their abilities in small groups.
Extension
This activity should be repeated in subsequent grades so students can compare their responses. Students can share their "All About You" activity sheets with their parents.
