Procedures/Activities
Step:
1 Duration: 5 min.
Explain to the class that you have prepared a game for them
that is similar to charades. You have prepared several pieces of paper, each of
which has either “boy” or “girl” written on it. You have also prepared a number
of situations.
Step: 2 Duration: 2
min.
Have each student draw two slips of paper. One slip tells the
student to be a boy or a girl. The other slip tells him or her about a
situation. Some possible situations: Two employees get into a hot argument. A
coworker is cheating the employer. You lost your company uniform. An employee
under your supervision is regularly late for work. Your coworkers plan a
birthday celebration for you.
Step:
3 Duration: 30 min.
Have students act out the ending of the situation they picked.
The class then tries to guess whether they are acting as a boy or a girl in the
situation.
Step: 4 Duration: 5
min.
After students have completed the game, ask them to discuss
what took place. Was it easier to guess the situation or the gender they were
portraying? Do boys and girls act differently in similar situations? Are boys
and girls treated alike or differently in similar situation?
Materials and Equipment

Assessment
Students' participation in the activity will be
evaluated.
Extension
Ask students to research different careers that are
predominantly filled by one sex. Have students make a list and tell why they
think that is.
Remediation
Write down a situation on the board and have students write
how they would solve it. Compare the answers boys give that those that girls
give and see if there are any similarities or differences.

be made in instruction and teaching delivery to allow students to participate in
classroom instruction while working on IEP objectives and off grade level QCC
standards. Below are suggested modifications correlated to the procedures of
this lesson plan.
